Lets face it there are not any really earth shatteringly great titles on the psp even the GTA’s had some floors in my opinion. But I went on a whim and bought Crisis core in hope of getting something that will get the dust off my Playstation portable. And Oh hell yah it did!
Now I’m still relatively new to the final fantasy series and I haven’t played VII so I knew this was going to be dangerous ice to tread on. But having played the beginning of the game I can safely say the story is understandable and a joy to play. Even though I did a little story research of the original game on the net I am really getting into the story and the characters. The characters are well acted. I can tell you now tat Sephiroth ad Genesis are by far going to be my favourite Final fantasy characters.
The game play is not what I was expecting. Having final fantasy III as my first final fantasy game I played and knowing that final fantasy VII had the same turn based battle system I was kind of expecting the same thing with Crisis Core. But as you are well aware the game play is more real time. Which I personally think is brilliant because you have to think about dodging attacks and timing, it also reminds me of the battle system in kingdom hearts which is still one of my favourite RPG series’. The DMW (Digital Mind Wave) element of the battle system is a good idea but I would I think it would function better if you could actually control it in some way even if it was just pressing a button to stop the slots at the right time. The level up system I’m still not sure about. Its linked tot he DMW so it seems as though Zack’s levelling up is totally random. I’m not that keen on it but maybe if I play the game more I will warm to it.
Digital Mind Wave - An interesting battle system that takes getting used too
With pretty much solid game play good characters and something to get the dust off my psp. I can safely say that this is a game for new comers and final fantasy veterans alike. A definite game to sink your teeth into.
