Batman: Arkham Asylum round up

After yesterdays post on Halo 3: ODST I have decided to dedicate the next few posts on games that I think are going to make it big this year! Cunningly calling it the round up series I will be telling you about a few up and coming games that are defiantly on my wish list!

Bman AA1

As comic book hero’s go bat man was never one of my favorites, It was something about theĀ  mask with the pointy ears that i thought looks pretty silly. But ever since I watched the movies my estimation of the dark knight has gone up considerably, so now I can safely say that I am not distracted by his pointy ears any more!

Now the main event, Batman: Arkham Asylem! This gem of a game is set in Arkham Asylem (surprisingly) where bat man has just caught the joker and is making it his business that he personally locks him up once and for all. But batman being batman is suspicious, this capture has gone all to smoothly no real hiccups what so ever. Until the joker gets inside the asylum, he breaks away from the hold of the guards and starts creating chaos and its up to batman to once again stop the joker.

Bman AA2

The thing with this Particular aslylem is this is the place where all of Batman’s, Nemesis’s are taken why they are captured. Meaning the joker now has an army of classic Batman villains such as: Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Bane and Killer Croc only to name a few.

To me this is the perfect setting or a game Bringing all the bad guys into one place is a method that nit many games go down these days, DMC3 did it well with Timen-ne-Gru but not many other games use this method they tend to use a variety of places to tell a story.

Now onto game play. Arkham Asylem is a 3rd person action game which uses both stealth and aggression. They key thing to point out here is that the character of batman is and always has been a crime solver so his detective skills are second to none, he is also a whiz with gadgets. So it will come to no surprise that these elements have not been glanced over in the game. Both te gadgets idea and Batman’s detective skills have come together to give the player what is called detective mode, at a touch of a button this will flick down a visor over Batman’s face letting him survey the area he is in. He will be able to pinpoint where each enemy is in a room and what weapon they are wielding. This will give the player the option to takeout the gun wielding guys first then move onto the unarmed thugs.

Bman AA3

But that’s not all, the game has a fully fledged combat system. Rocksteady (the makers of the game) have said that the hand to hand combat system will be different to what you usually see in 3rd person action games. Instead of having the basic attack, heavy attack, etc the player will have moves such as throw, punch, counter etc assigned to the buttons. Meaning that there is potential for much more impressive combos on enemies. Also the game doesn’t have a set amount of combos. Rocksteady boasts that the game will give you the potential of working out and stringing together your very own combos. Which I think could be very interesting.

Batman: Arkham Asylum will be hitting Europe this august. All you dark Knight fans bettr be ready and of corse all new comers are very much welcome too :)

Garv!
