The Next Level In Gaming

No, Not He man before you start chanting it.

So as you can see the Ghost Busters movie’s are one of my favorites and have been pretty much all through my childhood. So when Xbox LIVE finally got the demo of the game, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first movie, I had to really jump on that bandwagon.

Now this is one of the few game I have deliberately done research on. This is mainly because a film to game conversion, and all gamer out there know, film to game versions never score 100%. So instead of hyping myself up for a big let down by scouring the net for information I decided to actually wait untill I get my hands on the thing, and quite frankly I am happy I did.

The demo is relatively short, but what it does show you is the great gameplay that will come with the full game. Story wise I am a bit confused, as I have said before I have not read up on any info for ts game so by all means correct me if I am wrong here, but from what I gather, the game takes on a storyline that is set i between Ghostbusters 1 and 2, why do I assume this? well I the demo you revisit th library where te busters first saw the grey lady, you know the librarian ghost who liked shushing peopled and stacking books to the ceiling. The dialogue that the ghost busters were giving me were things like, ‘oh its her again, this is the first ghost we encountered at Ghostbusters etc etc.’ So I think its fair to say hat this is a follow on.

You play as a new Ghostbuster, creatively nick named Rookie you are the new guy to the team, In the demo you have seemed to have taken the place of Bill Murray’s character, Peter Venkman, and yo are exploring the library of the grey lady. In this demo you have your trusty proton gun and PKE meter. The proton gun has two different settings with ech setting supplied with two different modes of fire, so this gives you a good selection to play with. You have the PKE meter which when equipped goes into first person mode with you night vision goggles to investigate the area for supernatural activity, and you have your trust ghost trap which is always fun.

The game play is in the same 3rd person matter as Gears of war, and it really plays very smoothly, I had no trouble working my way round the buttons. The control system as a whole was very inviting so whatever level of gamer you are your not gonna have any trouble here.

Graphically the game does the movie justice, with bright vibrant supernal neon colours round ghosts and textures that captivate your surroundings well. I am pretty impressed with the graphics and te potion capture they have done on the cast works well.

No I have a gripe, maybe its a demo thing, but I don’t know. There was no health meter. and i was playing the game on normal mode, I would get knocked over but ge straight back up again,a bit strange if you ask me, and kinda takes out all the challenge of the game play, but you never know it could just be a demo thing.

All in all Ghostbusters seems to give the film justice, while making for some good gameplay, This is a game I will be getting my hands on in the future.
