The Next Level In Gaming

Archive for July, 2010

Although I’m primarily a console gamer – I wasn’t always, and a few PC games have special places in my heart. One such game was StarCraft, an RTS game I still hold with high regard to this day. With real-time strategy being one of the few genres that I feel suits the PC platform better than consoles – the keyboard and mouse perfect for precise selection and navigation in a micro management environment – I still haven’t seen an RTS [...]

Castle Crashers + Streets Of Rage = A beat ‘em up to rival them all Back on the Sega Mega-Drive, one of my favorite games I would play constantly was Streets Of Rage 2. For some reason 1 and 3 didn’t compare to the second outing of thug bashing. Plus there was a kid on roller blades who I thought was awesome. So I started off playing beat ‘em ups, a side from the classic FPS games which I don’t [...]

The For-runners are back, and this time it’s up to you what is built. Halo 3 brought us something that console fans had been yearning for in one shape or form since Halo: Combat Evolved, and that was a level editor of sorts. Dubbed Forge, this basic level editor would let players customise some of their favorite maps with a variety of weapons, props and vehicles. Later on in Halo 3′s life Bungie released some unique DLC expand forge further, [...]

The last time we left Sam and Max, they were about to be set upon by a horde of clones of our lovable but chubby Sam. The penultimate episode of the third series of Sam and Max begins with you holed up in Stinky’s Diner fighting off the Samulacra in an episode which looks set to challenge “The Tomb of Sammun-Mak” as the best of the season so far. Does it succeed? Read on and find out!

So far, there’s been nothing but pleasing news about my most anticipated fighter *ever*, Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. Mixing some classic characters with very welcome newcomers, the roster we knew so far contained Capcom’s Ryu, Chris Redfield, Morrigan, Felicia and Dante, and also Marvel’s Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk, Deadpool, and Captain America. They were off to a good start, and since then I’ve been anxious to hear more. There are plenty of characters we expect to [...]

You may remember sometime last week a post done by me highlighting the rumour about Capcom Vs Namco and visa versa. Well I am pleased to announce at Comic Con this weekend the rumour came true…well almost. Original Rumour: Capcom Vs Namco, a game putting various characters from the Capcom and Namco games and pitting them against each other. Much like Marvel Vs Capcom.  There will be two games being made one by Capcom with the Street Fighter IV engine [...]

What we know now Up until now I have not said much about Guitar Hero Warriors of rock. I suppose a lot of the attention has been diverted away by the unveiling of Rockband’s ‘real’ guitar controllers’ whose somewhat shiny if not a little controversial appearance would be enough to distract any hardcore fan. Still, I think its time to put realism aside for a second and change this. After-all, we are talking about a game here and not a [...]

As it should be made known and clear now: I’m not very good with racing games. This is on both a skill and interest level. The only racing games I enjoy are the non-serious ones such as Burnout and Mario Kart, and the only racing game which I’m able to effectively master is the Mario Kart series, which I get obsessed with whenever it comes out. It’s normally that racing games demand a lot more discipline and time to effectively [...]

We have been an established game site for about a year and a bit now, so I thought it would be a good laugh to see what my first ever game review for Plus XP was like. Now for all of you out there who don’t know, Plus XP started off as a blog site which I ran by myself called Garvaos’ Gaming Blog with the catchy URL ‘robsrockingreviews.wordpress.com’ yes as a matter of fact I do look back at [...]

Before I start diving head first into this rumour, I just want to say that I was a huge Tekken and Soul Calibur fan back before I religiously played Street Fighter. I loved Soul Calibur to bits and I still do.  Now that I have a love for street fighter. To hear a rumour of a Namco Vs Capcom game, has got me just a little bit excited. But to hear a rumor about 2 Namco Vs Capcom games has [...]
