Last week a new teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 was released to the gaming masses. Cyberpunk 2077 is a new open world Role Playing Game based on the popular pen and paper RPG, similarly called Cyberpunk. Excitingly the developing minds behind the epic Witcher 2, CD Projkt RED are creating the project, so what can we expect from this futuristic RPG epic?
Well the setting of the game looks like a cross between Deus Ex and Bioshock. CD Projekt RED have confirmed that the environment in this title will be completely open for you to explore and in classic role playing game fashion you will be creating a character from the ground up with an in depth character building system.
The game will take place in Night City, a futuristic metropolis that mixes both old style building architecture with new modern futuristic environments and buildings. It has been said that the developers have taken inspiration from films such as Blade Runner when designing Night city. The weapons also have a significant amount of detail built into them. Fans of the pen and paper RPG will recognise the Militech Crusher but with a bit of a futuristic overhaul. Other Cyberpunk firearms will make an appearance in the game, as well as energy weapons and other items linked more with the Japanese Cyberpunk art style.
In this world humans heavily modify their bodies with augmentations in the name of ultimate beauty. Unlike Deus Ex these augmentations are mainly aesthetic, meaning that if a human wants to mod their body with chrome hands for example they can do. Of course tampering with nature comes with its draw backs as the more augmentations are applied to the body the more insane the mind goes. If the worst does come to the worst and the augmented human does lose control a special squad of highly trained agents called MAX-TAC (commonly known as the psycho squad) are deployed to deal with the nut-cases before they lose control completely. Let’s just hope these cyborg humans don’t break loose and come across the city of Rapture any time soon.
Sadly we probably won’t see Cyberpunk 2077 hitting our PC’s until 2015. Will this game make it to consoles like the Witcher 2 did? I am hoping so.
