Mere hours ago Ubisoft released the first official teaser trailers for Assassins Creed 4, Black Flag. Following the appearance of a leaked cover art image showing a new assassin against the backdrop of a skull and crossbones, excitement has been growing amongst fans at the possibility of a Pirate themed game. Today these predictions are confirmed.
Stepping away from the American Frontier theme of Assassins Creed 3 fans of the series are now promised prizes, plunder and adventure as they sail the seven seas. I suppose we could really have seen this one coming. The complex, yet hardly used sailing mechanic of AC3 fits perfectly with this theme, and anyway, its a small step from playing at Cowboys and Indians to playing at Pirates isn’t it?
So what do these trailers tell us? Well most importantly they give us our first glimpse of our new protagonist, Captain Edward Kenway. Black Beard describes your new captain as a fearsome dog who feeds off trouble and turmoil, and after seeing him fight his way through this trailers we do not doubt it. Though not much is yet known about the game, so far it seems like it is making efforts to combine up some of the best parts of the previous games to use in this new world. We already have the sailing mechanic confirmed, but weather or not we will see the inclusion of certain weapons such as the bow and arrows, or the tree-top free running is yet to be seen. There is also a hint at the possibility of an enhanced underwater swimming mechanic within the game, but for now fans will have to wait and see if this will be a playable feature. One thing is for sure, the first trailer is beautifully cinematic. Depending on your view of the last game, this movie-like realism could either be really exciting, or a warning of possible extensive cut scenes to come. We will be keeping a weather eye on the horizon for any more Black Flag news, until then we wait with anticipation for our voyage.
Oh and there will also be sexy naked girls in the game, must not forget the naked girls.
Until next time,
