The Next Level In Gaming

‘E3 2010’

So at this year’s E3, Nintendo started off one of their greatest conferences yet with a long look at the latest Legend of Zelda game, now revealed to be subtitled “Skyward Sword”. Now, granted, the demo didn’t go entirely the way they wanted it to, but one thing looked for certain: Nintendo had done it again with the Zelda franchise. The game looked like a glorious mixing of the cel shaded Wind Waker game and the more serious Twilight Princess [...]

It was a fair while ago when MGS: Rising was announced, with the news that it would be the first Metal Gear Solid title to go multi-platform – perhaps due to the amount of Xbox 360 owners who hoped Metal Gear Solid 4 would eventually be ported. However, the announcement didn’t really tell us much at all – just an image of MGS4‘s version of Raiden with the words “Lightning Bolt Action”. It was said the game would be more [...]

Now I think I would be under exaggerating just a tiny bit when I say I like halo. I think this every time I look at My Xbox 360 game collection and see almost a 3rd of my games are Halo (yes ok My collection Isn’t that big), but the more I think about it. The more I think “is there anything different they can bring to the FPS genre, are they just gonna stick with the old Halo Mechanics?”

One of the very few games I always come back too when I have nothing else to play is Portal. The very idea of a first person puzzle game that uses portals to get around and solve puzzles really puts a smile of my face each time I think about it. God knows how many times I have played through the first Portal and loved it.

With E3 drawing to a close for yet another year, I thought I’d take a little time to talk about a series and well, a man, very close to my heart. Sid Meier is responsible for perhaps the worlds best turn based strategy games, the Civilisation series. Not to mention the awesomely fun Pirates! and a whole slew of theme park and railroad games. I played almost every installment of Civilisation to death, not counting Colonization and Alpha Centuri.

Lets talk about hardware… Anyone who logged on last week will know that my last contribution was a rather excited outburst giving you a sneaky look at the newest Guitar hero controller. I will not lie. I will always be a guitar hero girl. I was hooked at Gh3 and never looked back. I do however acknowledge that there are a lot of Rockband aficionado’s out there and it simply wouldn’t be fair to talk about the new guitar hero [...]

Now if you’ve been following my previous articles regarding Capcom’s latest (and most exciting) VS title, you’ll know that I’m excited to see the long-awaited Marvel vs Capcom 3 in the pipeline. Teasers released originally gave us a load of silhouettes amongst the few confirmed characters nudging us to who else would be occupying the roster in the new fighter. This week, along with all the E3 news, has given us a further look into what we can expect; with [...]

With the disappointment of Microsoft’s conference weighing heavy on many, Nintendo’s conference wouldn’t really have to exert much effort to give a better showing. What Nintendo did give was a conference with a massive amount for the hardcore, and a lot of promise for their new 3DS. The conference kicked off by looking at the new Zelda for the Wii, now subtitled ‘Skyward Sword’. Looking like a mix between the graphical style of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, it gives [...]

Usually every year I am excited about the Microsoft E3 Press conference. Nothing puts a smile on my face more than the thought of some big game announcements and previews for my beloved console. But to hear that most of the conference was about Kinect and how much this thing is about as revolutionary as the latest Final Fantasy title I feel a little disappointed and underwhelmed. To be honest I am pretty much done with speaking about Kinect. So [...]

The name project Natal has been floating round the gaming universe for some time now. Back at E3 last year Project Natal was shown as the Xbox 360′s new 3D camera which would take gaming to a whole new level. A bit like the Wii Project Natal brought the idea o getting physical with Video games, basically jumping around the room like a look while playing your new favorite video game. But Natal was different, it didn’t require a controller [...]
