Last Monday we saw the UK retailer GAME go into administration. Gamers across the UK were shocked as 277 stores in the UK alone were closed to try and save everyone’s favourite high street video games store. According to an article posted on Eurogamer.net yesterday the GAME franchise has now been saved.  OpCapita, the company that owns Comet, has purchased GAME UK and has acquired all of its assets. This means that 333 stores (211 GAME and 122 Gamestation) have now been saved. Henry Jackson, [...]

I’m a huge fan of Legacy of Kain – and it’s probably one of the series’ I’ve loved longest – after the real classics like Sonic the Hedgehog – I was playing Blood Omen when I was little more than ten years old. Spanning five games, two on the PS1, and three on the PS2, it’s been almost 10 years since the latest exploits of Raziel and Kain, two of the finest protagonists to grace the videogame market (and, in Kain’s case, an awesome villain at times, [...]

This month has been dark for Lionhead studios as CEO Peter Molyneux announced that he was leaving both the studio and Microsoft after the completion of Fable The Journey. Some gamers out there may think that he is running away with his tail between his legs after Fable III didn’t live up to its hype, others may think he is leaving to share his ‘visionary gaming mind’ with small time game developer 22 Cans. Whatever the reason for his departure [...]

In 2010 2K Games teamed up with Gearbox Software to create Borderlands. An FPS-RPG (First Person Shooter Role Playing Game) that was said to contained 87 bazillion different guns. The story to Borderlands was simple, you were on a planet called Pandora (not related to Avatar) and there is a legendary vault which is said to contain the riches beyond your imagination and enough ultimate weapons to destroy several galaxies. Basically everything you need to become a god among men. [...]

It’s been quite a while since we have had any new information on Halo 4. I have been exploring the internet with a fine tooth comb hoping to come across any hint of the game, hoping for new rumours or better yet a leaked screen shot.  Alas 343 studios, the new creative minds behind Halo have so far remained tight lipped. For all we know the game developers are hidden in an underground silo somewhere, secretly slaving away at the [...]

Last October cloud gaming finally made its way to Europe with the release of OnLive. A small video games console that would enable any gamer to plug into the internet and stream a video game just through a broadband connection. The Plus XP team were at the official OnLive launch Eurogamer Expo last year and the reception that OnLive received was probably the best they could have hoped for. Since the launch of OnLive, other companies have been jumping on [...]

darksiders ii prev2

For the past week I have been playing Darksiders. I have wanted to become one of the horseman of the apocalypse for a while and as it was going cheap I seized the opportunity. Since then I haven’t put my PS3 controller down. What I love about this game is that it mixes puzzle and platform game play with hack and slash combat perfectly. The story is also well written and it draws you in right from the start. You play as [...]

So it’s the day after St Valentines day, and with the novelty of the cards, gifts and (lets face it) commercially driven forced emotion having worn off, its time to talk about a much more important happy partnership. Gamers and broadband. Ever since we ditched the dial up online gaming has brought us endless possibilities for bragging, socializing and shooting our mates in the face without the hassle arranging for them to actually be there; and we love it. Any [...]

The dawn of the Playstation brought with it some epic video game franchises.  Without Sony consoles we wouldn’t have such characters as Solid Snake, Lara Croft or even Spyro The Dragon. Have you ever thought about how cool it would be to have characters like Kratos and Nathan Drake pitted against each other in a fight to the death? Or even sack boy having a brawl against Crash Bandicoot? Well soon your wishes maybe granted Title Fight appears to be [...]
