With the memory of the recent Sony hacks that brought down PSN for almost a month fresh in everyone’s minds, the third giant of the gaming industry finally had a chance to announce some good news. While apologetic, Sony held their head high as they looked to the future of PlayStation – and here is what they had to bring to the table:
After the huge success of God of War III, it was said that although the latest title gave a conclusion to the storyline of the first and second games, it would not be the end of Kratos. There’s word of some free DLC adding an epilogue to the PS3 title – but while we wait for that, I have some news that’s perhaps just as good.
Sony’s own God of War was one of the PS2′s final great titles, God of War II in particular creating something that looked fantastic, delivering to us one of the most enjoyable (and brutal) games to date – taking the fresh concepts of the first title and simply improving upon them. The story expanded by an equally fantastic PSP title, Chains of Olympus, the series tells us the tale of Kratos, a spartan general caught up in a never-ending quest [...]
Since God of War was first released on the PS2, Kratos has become an iconic figure in action gaming, offering a more adult, violent alternative to the Prince of Persias and Tomb Raiders of the world – with no-holds-barred brutality, rage and gripping action in his epic battles fighting whatever and whoever stands in his way. Next month sees the release of God of War III – Kratos’ first outing on the current generation. With God of War II stretching [...]
Last year we saw a miniature uprising in the games industry. Casual gaming made an all time high with the release of both Wii Fit and Wii Fit plus, with Wii Fit becoming the biggest selling game of all time. Both the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises went into overdrive, releasing a grand total of two new Rock Band titles and six new Hero titles (including Band Hero and DJ Hero). 2009 also saw some great gaming titles too, such [...]
Everywhere outside of Japan and the US (namely Europe and Australia) almost always get screwed when it comes to special editions of games, and even miss out on some games altogether. I for one am still bitter that Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories – especially seeing as it was released in the US, meaning that all of the translation work had already been done. This is generally because the UK isn’t seen as a big enough market, but for the [...]
While I am on the subject of Dante’s Inferno, I gave the demo a whirl to see if the game had any more surprises for me. As you all probably know I had a hands on preview with the game at Eurogamer ’09. So when I came to download the demo off XBox LIVE. I was pretty much expecting the same demo I played at Eurogamer. Oh how wrong I was. This demo showed me the very start of the [...]
There was one title in particular that drew me to Eurogamer - even amongst all of the other titles, nothing could keep me away from attending, since the day would grant me an opportunity to get my hands on the third installment of God of War. With a hefty amount of consoles dedicated to the new installment of Kratos’ latest gorefest, I waited my turn to get on one of the PS3′s dedicated to the title’s demo. So read on, and [...]
Soul Calibur is a series that I’ve never been totally sure about – I’m quite picky when it comes to fighting games, and generally I’m more of a Street Fighter fan. However, I do own a copy of Soul Calibur IV, and when I got it I enjoyed playing it for a while. The combat is easy to pick up, yet it does feel as though there’s an element of mastery that the player can pick up, with blocks, reversals [...]
