The Next Level In Gaming

With the first episode of the series, Telltale Games had a lot to live up to in order to give the audience something that could manage to be a worthy part of the franchise while carving its own place into the tome of Back to the Future. Luckily, thanks to their amazing pedigree with the point and click genre, this was something they managed to do with what I felt to be flying colours. With the first episode ending on [...]

One of my favourite trilogies in the history of making three of things has to undoubtedly be the Back to the Future series. Incredible writing is pitched with fantastic humour and one of the best takes on the concept of Time Travel I’ve witnessed in popular media. The adventures of Doc Brown and Marty McFly are some of the greatest around, but never before have they had a video game that you could be proud to call part of the [...]

Quick, name any amazing film trilogies you can think of! Now if I’m lucky, one of the first ones that came to your mind was the Back to the Future trilogy. One of the best things ever involving time-travel, the series of films featured Michael J Fox as Marty McFly, a teenager who gets caught up in a series of time travelling adventures which involves getting his parents together, an alternative time-line and the Wild-West. With his friend the ever-lovable [...]

So here it is. The final part to the latest season of Telltale Games’ Sam and Max. In this season alone the duo have stopped an alien invasion, quelled the rising of an Elder God, dethroned an Egyptian Pharaoh and fought off an army of clones. Now Max is possessed by an Elder God and is rampaging and destroying the city while armies of his flaming head feed off the dreams of the sleeping. Sam only has a short amount [...]

One of the more amazing things about Telltale Games (what, you haven’t figured out by now that I’m in love with this developer?) is that they’re a company that’s not afraid to experiment. Sure, they stay in the genre of point and clicks and have more or less single-handedly revived them, but each series they’ve worked on have been wildly different. Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People is nothing like Sam and Max, which is nothing like Wallace and [...]

The last time we left Sam and Max, they were about to be set upon by a horde of clones of our lovable but chubby Sam. The penultimate episode of the third series of Sam and Max begins with you holed up in Stinky’s Diner fighting off the Samulacra in an episode which looks set to challenge “The Tomb of Sammun-Mak” as the best of the season so far. Does it succeed? Read on and find out!

As everyone who reads PlusXP should now be aware, I’m a massive point and click fan, and I truly love Telltale Games. I’ve also been reviewing the new season of Sam and Max, subtitled “The Devil’s Playhouse” episode by episode. This time, we’re continuing from the stellar “Tomb of Sammun-Mak” with the promising “They Stole Max’s Brain!”

Leaving off directly from the end of the previous episode, Telltale Games don’t hesitate to take you on another incredible adventure of mystery and hilarity in the second episode of the Devil’s Playhouse season. The Tomb of Sammun-Mak is not only better than the Penal Zone, but could possibly be one of the best episodes of the Sam and Max series.
