I must admit that the title may be reactionary, but this week EA have announced that they are planning to join Ubisoft in ditching their video games instruction booklets in order to cut their printed materials down by 40%. All well and good for the environment, but is it the way forward? I know that I can’t speak for all of the gamers out there as I write this, but when it comes to video games, films, comics, graphic novels [...]
When I play a game, I am always up for a bit of a challenge. I look at some FPS titles and can’t help but whack the difficulty up to max and count the seconds it takes for me to get totally disemboweled by zombies or space aliens. Even though I do like the challenge I am never that great at it, Games are supposed to be fun at the end of the day, this is why I play them. [...]
Last night saw possibly one of the biggest launch events for a game/console/peripheral in new york. Times square was littered with dancing people for the launch event for Kinect. Originally labeled project Natal back at E3 in 2009. The idea behind Kinect is controller-less gaming, meaning you can play games just with your body. With the Tag line you are the controller it sounds like it should be a revolution for the 360.

A guide to modern day suffrage for the female gamer I am not a Bra burning feminist or a nun. My childhood role model was Lara Croft and given the choice between short shorts or jeans the skimpier option will always win with me. For years I have enjoyed titles such as Soul Caliber, Tekken and Street fighter where my chosen character for somewhat unfathomable reasons frequently chooses a bikini as their prime outfit for combat, and it has never [...]
Contributed by Edward Price As a gamer, I like to buy and play videogames, and then tell other people my views on the games I play. However, videogames are a serious business, and I feel a need to attach myself to and champion a particular videogame console that not only does not reciprocate the love which I give it, but is made by a company who not only do not care what I think, but would probably look at me [...]
I’ll admit I’m a fairly new addition to the gaming world. I only started gaming properly in 94/95 and even then I was limited to my wee lil Sega Master system and the few games that came with it. Most of my early gaming experiences of games with more complexity came from watching my friends play on their PCs, Mega Drive, and N64. In time I got my hands on more consoles and eventually my own PC, allowing me to [...]
h I remember first hearing about the Wii and its new gameplay ideas, unveiling the Wiimote and its unusual point and click style of control. To be honest I wasn’t all that keen but I was willing to see how things went, and even got ahold of one on release day; although more for the upcoming Zelda and Metroid titles than for the new control style. Regardless, I played the console for a while; Metroid Prime 3 using the controls [...]
