The Next Level In Gaming

The dawn of the Playstation brought with it some epic video game franchises.  Without Sony consoles we wouldn’t have such characters as Solid Snake, Lara Croft or even Spyro The Dragon. Have you ever thought about how cool it would be to have characters like Kratos and Nathan Drake pitted against each other in a fight to the death? Or even sack boy having a brawl against Crash Bandicoot? Well soon your wishes maybe granted Title Fight appears to be [...]

Rumours hit the internet todaythat at E3 this year not one but two new consoles are going to be announced. After a painfully long wait it finally looks as though both Microsoft and Sony will be announcing the next generations of the XBox and PlayStation family. The first site to make this announcement was mvcuk.com. They stated that  ”MCV’s third-party publishing sources claim the firm had signalled to partners this will happen.” Ben Parfitt MVC’s online editor also tweeted about the news saying “Obviously we [...]

Over the last few years I’ve played a number of downloadable titles on PSN and XBLA. To begin with, the majority of these titles were ports of old games, and fairly average arcade games as various developers tested the waters in a new medium. However as time has progressed, there have been a selection of top-quality games produced – well worth the price tags. From 2D side-scrollers with modern engines (Shadow Complex, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2), zany multiplayer brawlers (Castle [...]

With the memory of the recent Sony hacks that brought down PSN for almost a month fresh in everyone’s minds, the third giant of the gaming industry finally had a chance to announce some good news. While apologetic, Sony held their head high as they looked to the future of PlayStation – and here is what they had to bring to the table:

It certainly sucks to be you right now, Sony. All that PSN hacking nonsense can’t have been very good for business; you’re being sued and investigated for it by multiple parties, you’ve shut off the ability for many indie developers to get their revenue and cost yourself and other companies tons of money in the process. On top of that, you’ve also made it a lot harder for people to trust you in the future, and you’ve caused a load [...]

Back in my uni days I was a sucker for trading in games. This was partly so I can get the latest games a little bit cheaper and I really didn’t think that any of my titles were worth hanging on to except a select few. My collection kept changing and changing. It was a fantastic way to save money and get some good titles in the process. Ever since things like Xbox LIVE and Steam on PC started to [...]

When it comes it racing games you are always going to see me playing Arcade racers. I love games like Burnout and most of the Need For Speed games. I even had a brief love with Wipeout but the hatchet on that game has been long since buried. Burnout paradise is my main arcade racer at the moment as it brings all I really want from any racer into one game that is fast paced, aggressive and addictive. Also I [...]

So at CES this year we did expect a big announcement from Sony about the so-called PlayStation phone. Well sadly that never happened, so the phone is still just a rumour apparently. I was scanning Kotaku.com as you do this morning, and it appears that there has been a stupid amount of information leaked about the smart phone in China. The chinese site IT168 has spilled a bunch of info on the phones specs and capabilities meaning that if this [...]

LittleBigPlanet was a huge success on the Playstation 3 – allowing for some of the most creative gamers to really dig deep into its core, producing some of the most amazing platforming levels you could think of. While the story mode was good, the real depth came in the form of its online modes – tagged with the simple brand – ‘Play. Create. Share’, there you could find some true artists, with some of the best user-generated content seen on [...]

One of the current “rumours” going around is the PSP2. The reason I put rumours in quotation marks there was because “Something that everyone knows is going to happen and devs have got their hands on and are making games for it but we have to stupidly refer to it as a rumour because no-one has actually officially announced it” was a bit too long to repeatedly refer to and hilariously pointless to abbreviate into acronyms. So yeah, back to [...]
