The Next Level In Gaming

It’s been a bit quiet on the SFxT front of late – Capcom went through a period of unveiling a couple of new characters on a regular basis, until I guess they realised they were going to run out of characters before the game was going to be released. There were odd bits of information on the new gem system, but while I was excited for the game a couple of months ago, the hype had since died down and [...]

When I was younger, I dabbled in fighting games. First was Mortal Kombat on the Mega Drive – the attraction of the special moves and the gore getting me hooked for hours at a time. When the PlayStation came around, I then found myself in love with the cast of Tekken – I’d never seen a fighting game with such graphics, on a 3D plane, well, on a home console that is. The demo of Tekken 3 was included with [...]

The last couple of years have seen a big comeback for the fighting game genre – with Super Street Fighter IV and Mortal Kombat 9 bringing the 2D fighter genre kicking and screaming into the current decade, made to shine with updated visuals and tighter controls than ever before. As fighting games (and our rivalry) become even better than ever, we thought we’d make a tribute to our favourite characters in the genre!

Last week saw Capcom’s Captivate expo where the infamous japanese developer/publisher announced some earth shattering new info that got every Capcom fan either squealing in excitement or fainting at the very thought of how epic these announcements are. Even though there is a lot to talk about in regards to what was announced, I am going to focus my attention to the Fighters. Capcom are infamous for their 2D fighters and what has been announced is pretty epic in my opinion, [...]

Ever since I first started playing Street Fighter IV the game has been going from strength to strength. I wasnt much of a Street Fighter fan when the game first hit the shelves, but now I can’t get enough of the 2D fighter it is seriously one of the best fighters out there, and has been keeping its reputation on the fighting circuit.

Two year ago I really got into fighting games. Before then I was dipping in and out of things like Tekken and Soul Caliber but not really getting a feel for them. It wasn’t till about two years ago I picked up Street Fighter IV and though I would have a go. I got hooked and I love Street Fighter more than ever as a fighting game. About a month or so ago one of my friends at work started [...]

The video games I have grown up with have mainly been platformers like Sonic The Hedgehog or FPS games such as Doom or Duke Nukem, most of you out there who have read Plus XP for a while have probably noticed me saying this again and again so I won’t go into details for the forty millionth time. But when I was about ten years old I was given a copy of Super Street Fighter II Turbo on the PC. [...]

While it’s always good to be up to date with the latest games, sometimes gaming can be quite a financial burden – with new games costing around £40 a pop, it’s easy to get swamped when trying to keep up with all of the new releases. But for when £40 seems like a little too much, that doesn’t mean you need to stop gaming. There are a number of gems out there, all just waiting to be played for under [...]

Fighting games for me are a bit of a weird subject, I have been on and off them for a good couple of years. Originally my allegiance has been towards the 3D fighters such as Soul Caliber and Tekken. But it’s only recently I have been bitten by the 2D fighter bug. I will go into my fighting game experiences and thoughts in general in a later epic post I am planning, but for now I am going to focus [...]

Street Fighter III was a bit of a mixed bag, really. If you’re a casual Street Fighter player, it’s unlikely that you’ll have played it – since other editions are far more well known and played. However, for fans of the series, it’s both loved and disliked at the same time. While the game was praised for it’s engine – specifically for competitive players - the fact that all of the regular Street Fighter cast were dropped (save for Ryu and [...]
