With Resident Evil: Revelations out in a week, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City due for release in March, and rumours of Resident Evil 6 scattered over the web, I must say I wasn’t actually expecting an announcement AND trailer this suddenly. But it’s here – the official reveal of Resident Evil 6. And judging by the trailer, I’m excited.

Zombies, glorious zombies. While the Resident Evil series has moved away from them at late (in favour of the less dead-looking and agile Majinis), it seems that Capcom are finally bringing Resident Evil’s iconic zombies back to the core, numbered series – not totally unsurprising, what with prequels Raccoon City and Revelations also focusing on our skin challenged friends. Of course, people cry – how can zombies be threatening in today’s games considering how slow they are? Well, it seems the location of Tall Oaks has been majorly compromised – with 70,000 infected. It’s all about numbers with zombies, assuming you have the amount of ammo we saw in Resident Evil 5.

That’s not to say that zombies will be the only enemy in the game – with powerful BOWs (Bio-Organic Weapons) also popping up around the world, and it seems that the Majini threat is also still present, giving us the gun-toting parasitic threat as well as the zombie outbreak. While I wasn’t a huge fan of Majinis as a replacement for zombies, I can happily see the two co-existing nicely.

So who are the lucky ones to deal with this new threat? Well, it seems many of the fans will finally be getting their prayers answered – Chris Redfield and Leon S Kennedy are co-starring for the first time in the series, with co-op modes also confirmed to be making a return (although no real details have been given at this point). While it’s clear that the game will not be returning to Resident Evil’s survival horror roots, it seems that Capcom are trying to pull out all the stops in giving fans what they want while evolving the gameplay in a way that feels natural – the bioterrorism threat becoming ever closer to a zombie apocalypse. With a game-style executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi calls “dramatic horror,” it sounds as though we’ll be seeing a mixture of action and horror – so hopefully that means that although the game will still be action-based, we’ll be seeing a few more scares than in RE5, which was sorely lacking for a Resident Evil title.

The plot itself of course revolves around more attacks from bioterrorists, though who is pulling the strings is anyone’s guess. Ten years have passed since Raccoon City, and the President has decided to go public with the truth of the events. However, Leon is forced to make a tough decision when the President, who is also his personal friend, becomes infected. Elsewhere in China, another attack has taken place with Chris on the scene – and it seems that the world’s population has to unite under the common threat of bioterrorism, though filled with fear that nothing will now be able to stop what has been put into motion. That said, it’s a little strange as Resident Evil 6 seems to be set before Resident Evil 5 – set ten years after the Raccoon City Outbreak in 1998, while the events in Kijuju took place in 2009. Considering the scale of things happening in RE6, it seems very odd that everything’s been cleared up within a year. That, and I was fairly sure that Chris had never encountered a Majini before Resident Evil 5, though that might have just been my own assumption. Hopefully more light will be shed on this closer to the game’s release.

There are, of course, new characters joining the fray as well. An unnamed mercenary who fights bare-fisted is featured prominently in the trailer, his female companion stating “the world needs you”. He responds “no, no, not me. Just me blood. Well the world can have it, long as someone ponies up the dough.” Perhaps his blood contains an antidote for the zombie virus, at least that’s my guess. Sounds like he’s going to play a key role in the plot, but doesn’t appear to be taking a particular side – he’s featured fighting against BOWs, yet doesn’t seem in a hurry to relinquish his blood for whatever greater good it holds. There is also a woman who claims to be at fault for the outbreak, and Chris seems to have a vendetta against a certain woman – though it’s not clear if this is the same lady. Could she be a villain, or just a pawn?

Gameplay wise, Resident Evil seems to play similarly to Resident Evil 5, although with some changes. Firstly, it’s clear that Chris and Leon have a few special moves up their sleeves, such as shooting whilst leaping backward, and rolling manoeuvres. Also, melee attacks look as if they could be a little deepened, as Leon is shown planting an axe in the head of one enemy. Looks like enemies have been given a few new tricks, too – with one Majini extending it’s parasitic arm over the cover that Chris was hidden behind and grabbing him, yanking him up into the air.

Visually, the game is looking good and the animation looks clean – one gameplay scene shows Chris running through a street in China as civilians flee, pushing them out of the way and shoving a reporter’s video camera out of his face while making his way through the wreckage. One thing I also noticed was that the game seems to be set mostly at night – one thing that RE5 deviated from that did seem to take away some of that Resident Evil atmosphere.

While it’s unclear on exactly how the game will turn out at this point, the initial footage has definitely got me excited. It looks to me that Capcom have taken the Resident Evil 5 style and worked upon it, while simultaneously trying to put lots of fan-service into the mix. I do hope the game will have a good amount of scares in it, but I’m sure it can’t have less scares than RE5. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

We’ve also been given a release date – the 20th November. A while off, yet – but better than some of the waits we’ve had to endure between announcement and release *cough*FinalFantasyVersusThirteen*cough*. Plus, we’ve got Operation: Raccoon City and Revelations to keep us busy till then – two titles I’m even more excited for now.

Note: Due to technical difficulties, That Bloke in the Beanie was unable to play Dead Island’s online multiplayer co-op. As this is a major part of the game which adds more gameplay and variety, this review should be treated solely as an evaluation of the single player mode.

I never saw the trailer for Dead Island. I had heard the hype but never been embroiled in it myself. So going into it my only expectations were for a zombie game with beautiful environments and solid combat and, for the most part, Dead Island delivered. The game has taken many aspects from various other games such as Borderlands, but it takes its inspiration from the majority of the zombie game spectrum.

The action takes place on the fictional tropical island of Banoi, located just off the coast of Papua New Guinea. Banoi is popular holiday destination for the rich and famous as well as the usual tourists. The beaches are large and expansive, the booze is cheap and plentiful and the trend less is more is almost enforced by law. However there is the problem of the sudden zombie infestation. Where did it come from? Why was it made? Why are the four main characters immune to it? Most of these questions make the main plot and motivation of the game, alongside surviving and aiding other survivors.

You have the choice of four playable characters: Xian Mei a Chinese national working on the reception desk at the resort that specialises in bladed weapons, Logan a former NFL superstar who pissed away his career ending in a car crash that killed his passenger. He now travels to the island as part of a marketing deal, he specialises in thrown objects, Purna a former Australian cop who quit after shooting a child molester who was unable to be prosecuted she became a bodyguard for VIPs all over the world leading her to the resort, she is a firearms expert and Sam B, a one hit wonder rap star seeking to get back on top after being booked to perform at the resort who is handy with blunt objects. Unfortunately, that is as far as most of the characterisation goes. I’m trying to avoid spoilers but we are left with many questions unanswered about our chosen avatar.

After choosing your character and weapon of choice, you try to escape the hotel, only to get caught by a zombie and bitten only to find that you do not turn. Saved by some other survivors you are hold up on the beach with only a wooden oar and your mighty boot or stiletto to start cracking skulls. The environments of the island are huge and varied, but the best is of course the beach resort: the sun, the sand, the half made sand castles and the sound of the sea, wind, birds and the screams of the dead occasionally punctuating the air. It is beautiful, even on a non HD TV. However, there are moments of pop ins and outs graphically. There’s also the problem of emptiness is some areas. What do I mean by that? Well, I went on a merry trip off the beaten track to a non-essential exploration area where there was precisely one and only one hut to explore. Call me picky but I prefer my open world exploration with suitable rewards, not just a lot of pretty scenery and dead zombies.

The plot and other game events are pushed forward by coming into contact with other survivors who, as soon as finding out you are immune immediately task you with some form of fetch quest ranging from the banal but vital task of getting car parts or fuel to burn bodies, to the weird and stupid like searching for some nutters teddy bear and necklace. You generally need to do these quests in order to get modification recipes for your weapons, lump sums of cash or just a decent weapon or xp boost to power you along. The voice acting is mostly solid with some big names behind them but there are some truly atrocious readings as well which bore into your skull as they repeat the vapid phrases at you while you’re working.

You spend most of your time in Dead Island when you’re not kicking/beating zombies to death scrounging for various supplies and money needed to repair and buy new ones. While some shops do exists, most of your money will be spent on repairs at workbenches where you can also craft and upgrade new or better items. The items you pick up seem to have a use but it wasn’t always clear. I ended the game with two dozen bars of soap and no mod to use them in. While the mods you pick up are useful and fun, it is a bit of a shame you can’t experiment by trying a will it blend approach like in Dead Rising.

But the key, crucial question, is whether or not the combat any good? After all, the meat, if you’ll excuse the pun, is a key part of the game. A lot can be forgiven if the action is solid and enjoyable. Unfortunately the answer is only mostly. The quantity and quality of zombies is generally satisfying but when it isn’t it is more frustrating than it is tense. More than once I was killed by a zombie somehow spawning behind me and one-shoting me. The variety of weapons and killing methods are varied and substantial enough to entertain, even if the majority can be brought down with a kick and smack with heavy blunt or sharp object approach. Severing heads and limbs, crushing them, exploding them setting them on fire running them over and even drowning them are all suitably cathartic or amusing. The firearms you come across later have limited ammo capacity and are best saved for boss zombies. There is also the addition of a frenzy mechanic. In my game playing as Xin, the world went into slow motion; she pulled out a knife and proceeded to cut up every poor basterd in her way.

However, this sometimes clashes with the tone that Dead Island is trying to show. For example, early in the game I came across a pool filled with blood and bodies with a poor man in it crying saying how he’d just killed his entire family. It was suitably horrific and drew me into the game that much more because of it. Then I come across a hut where an impromptu porno was being shot with the woman still chained to the bed and I stomp her head in. This leaves me amused and bemused. The problem is the combat lends itself to frantic kick and slash fun/frustrating which can give you a good laugh but everyone else is scared, freaked out and depressed by the situation.

So in short, the combat in DI is serviceable if frantic and frustrating at times. The setting unfortunately loses something of interest in the later levels and the plot and characterisation are thin on the ground. I would recommend it for zombie fans but rent it if first if you are unsure.

Us gamers have a vast knowledge of what to do when the earth is in danger – whether it’s an alien invasion, an airborne Zombie Virus or a nuclear holocaust, we have the gaming knowledge to keep our virtual selves alive in desperate times. But what if one day a virus does break out, turning the whole world into zombies? Or nuclear war does hit, taking the all the world’s population by surprise and turning everything into a barren wasteland? Will us gamers out there have the knowledge to survive the harsh environment? With all this in mind, I have decided to come up with the Plus XP guide to surviving the Apocalypse, this five-step program will take you through what to expect, covering zombies, nuclear fallout, alien invasion and, if we are super unlucky, hell on earth.

Step 1 – Arm yourself

If Fallout and Left 4 Dead 2 are anything to go by, pretty much anything can be used as a weapon. Whether it’s a magnum you have managed to stash away somewhere on your person, or a frying pan you have found just lying about, anything can be used to beat down the dangers that lurk on the Earth’s surface. Also, if games are anything to go by, you can hold a lot of weapons at any given time. According to DOOM II you can stash up to nine weapons on your person at once. Or, if you really wanna analyse your games for the Earth’s inevitable doom, play some GTA IV and see what clothes Niko Bellic is wearing – because you can stash a whole array of weapons from pistols and sawn-off shot guns, to full-blown rocket launchers and sniper rifles… handy! Which brings us to step 2.

Step 2 – Finding the right attire

As I said in step one, a good route to go here is the GTAIV route because, lets face it; it has magic pockets to store your whole armory in. But defending yourself is also key to survival, and a good armored suit is the way to go in most cases. Unless you are Duke Nukem of course, then you can just wear a tank top and watch the bullets bounce of your huge pectorals.

Taking a look at Halo, Quake 4, Aliens Vs Predator and Doom, I think they are onto something here. Green and brown are this season’s Apocalypse colours, and are definitely good for camouflage whatever terrain you are in. and make sure it is well armored.

But then there are probably those of you out there who didn’t pack an Apocalypse bag before the earth was destroyed. So my advice to you (well more Fallout’s advice to you) is to grab anything you can and wear it, regardless if it’s a silly sack on your head or huge armour that probably weighs about a ton.

Step 3 – Finding shelter

You need somewhere safe to stay when any sort of Apocalypse strikes. In the case of zombies, if you manage to find a huge door that bolts shut then you’re in for a win. These doors can be found on any building – whether it is a block of flats, a country house or indeed an old wooden shack you will be just fine, once said door is bolted shut there will be a plethora of supplies and weapons for you.

In case of Nuclear Apocalypse however, it gets a bit more tricky… mainly because most things have been blown to smithereens. That said, you will find some places that have remarkably stayed in tact, or you can just find a load of corrugated metal and build yourself a quaint little town, just make damn sure there isn’t a nuclear warhead in the middle of it. It could either explode or have crazy people worshipping it.

With an alien invasion however, you’re probably not going to have any shelter at all – you will mainly find yourself running around lots, shooting anything that moves. But having said that, I have heard space stations are a nice destination this time of the year.

Step 4 – Finding Sustenance and/or medical supplies

You want to stay alive, right? Well if games are anything to go by, food and drink will heal your broken bones within seconds. Fallout and Wolfenstein have both proved this theory. Weather it is a hot meal or a nice cool bottle of radiated cola you will feel better, and in no time that bite you got from a crazy dog will heal right up.

In other cases such as Left 4 Dead, you have to scout around for medi-packs. These things are stashed with bandages and well… bandages. You will feel right as rain in no time after you apply these magical fabrics. Having said that, if we take a leaf from Halo’s book, then simply stepping on medi-packs will automatically heal you, or if your feeling hardcore like Duke Nukem then simply kick a toilet in and drink the water. You will feel ready to kick some more butt in next to no time.

Step 5 (The Most Important) – DTA

Common practice for a post apocalyptic earth is to DTA - Don’t. Trust. Anybody. Look after number one at all times. Left 4 Dead teaches us that crying humanoid creatures really don’t want our help, they just want to rip our faces off, F.E.A.R. has shown us that small girls can really be mind-controlling, crazy things that can scare the living Jesus out of you and will also rip your face off. Lets face it, everything out there in post apocalyptic earth is just wanting to rip off your face. Dogs, zombies, zombie dogs. It’s pretty dangerous out there.

And that is it, Plus XP’s five step program to surviving doomsday and post apocalyptic earth. If you haven’t gathered by the way, Earth is the number one target for anything, so be warned.

There is one slight problem though…I haven’t played a game that tells me what to do when the ice caps melt… bugger.

If zombie games have taught me anything, there are two ways to survive in a zombie apocalypse. 1) keep to the shadows, don’t let the zombies see you and get to the safe house in one piece. Or 2) run through the zombie ridden enviroment taking out every single zombie with a whole array or weapons and blunt objects till you finally plough your way through to the safe house. As you can probably guess the latter is my favorite, games like Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising to rank highly in my books. So am I excited for the next installment in the Dead Rising zombie apocalypse?

To be honest I didn’t play much of the first game, this is because I had the smallest standard definition TV ever. Meaning I had no idea what time it was when I looked at my watch and I couldn’t see half the text. The first Dead Rising game was built for HD and I am hoping the next outing will cater more to the skint gamers out there who can only use standard def TV’s.

Now that’s all my complaining out the way let’s get down to what Dead Rising is all about. For those of you who don’t know, Dead Rising is about surviving a zombie apocalypse and within a certain time limit. In the first game you played Frank West and you were dropped off on the roof of a mall during a zombie break out, to find survivors and save them. The choppers would be back in two hours to pick you up, if you weren’t back on the roof in the allotted time you would fail the game. This was a different way of playing the game, luckily game hours weren’t the same a human hours which gave the game a sence of urgency but not enough to completely stress you out.

Anyone for a spot of shopping at the mall?

Dead Rising 2 is set in Capcom and Blue Castle Game’s answer to Las Vegas. You play a biker called Chuck Greene and you have been framed for unleashing the zombie horde on the glamorous city and it is up to you to find survivors and clear your name. Much like Dead Rising 1 you are against the clock to fulfill your objectives, if you miss your objectives or die, you lose the game. Mind you this time round you have save slots, which can be a relief for some gamers out there or utterly blasphemous for some hardcore Dead Rising players. But then again you do have the choice not to save and just play the game old school Dead Rising 1 style (and I bet there will be an achievement with that)

The biggest change is the weapon combos. Now I don’t mean fighting combinations,. I mean sticking 2 things together to make an uber weapon. For example, the pitch folk shot-gun, or the knife blade boxing gloves. These things can be constructed in the maintenance room. Once created these then unlock combo cards which give you the recipe for these awesome weapons, so if you need to construct them again you can simply look at your cards. This also goes for concocting health tonics and all sorts of manner of things, the game also supports vehicles as well, which again you can strap weapons too making for all sorts of carnage.

Anyone for boxing?

Dead Rising 2 is shaping up to be one hell of a Zombie slayer. With the inclusion of custom weapons and vehicles as well this game is set to separate the true zombie slayers from the bunch.

Dead Rising 2 comes out in the UK on the 24th of September, till then, you better get the practise in on Dead Rising 1.

WARNING: This weeks episode will contain a small spoiler from ‘The Passing’ DLC for Left For Dead 2. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Edward: Hello, and welcome to Plus XP’s Inside Look! I’m your host for this week, Edward Price, so let’s give a warm round of applause to me!

…

Oh, that’s fine. I see how it is. Jerks.

Anyway, since my long rehabiliation after my last Inside Look and despite being fired after my last article here at Plus XP, I finally decided I was healthy enough to come back and give everyone another Inside Look into the amazing world of videogames!

This week, already here on the couch ready to be interviewed is one of Plus XP’s favourite new gaming characters to come out of a new favourite series of games, Bill from Left 4 Dead!

Bill’s here to promote the new downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2, “The Passing”. New weapons, new locations, and the return of the original cast, tying together the two stories and leading to loads more fun for Left 4 Dead fans!

So, to those less educated about Bill, he’s a Green Beret and a Vietnam veteran. So I guess that the harrowing conditions in which you and three of your friends had to battle your way through relentless hordes of infected people was in some ways, similar at least to your previous incarnations in the army, Bill?

Okay, yeah, that’s probably quite a hard question to start off with… Would you say it at least, made you the most prepared of the other survivors?

Okay, so you don’t want to answer that either. Okay, uhhh…

Uhhh, this is pretty difficult if you don’t even attempt to reciprocate conversation. Uhh, is this a new Cologne you’re wearing? It’s very potent, at the least…

Your favourite weapon?

Favourite character from L4D2? I’m still tied between Ellis and Nick, myself. Did you find yourself getting on with any of them?

Wanna hear a funny story about when I was playing Left 4 Dead 1? Basically, me and my friend Keith…

…

He died.

Look, Bill, just because you’re covered in boomer bile, bloody, and now canonically dead doesn’t mean that you can’t answer some questions! Everyone at home is expecting some serious gaming journalism here, and I can’t deliver that to them if you don’t at least answer some questions or at least plug the new Passing DLC! Available via downloadable content free for PC and 560 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360! Get yours today!

Garvaos: Hey wait, he’s canonically dead?

Ed: Yeah, apparently he’s dead now.

Leon: How did that happen?

Ed: Well, you’ll probably have to buy “The Passing” to find out! The new downloadable content for-

Leon: Wait, you said covered in boomer bile? And can you stop working in product placement into your regular speech? It’s kind of annoying.

Ed: Yeah, that boomer bile made it really difficult to carry him away from that dumpster Valve left him in. It kind of stinks, don’t you think? It’s like somebody cooked animal poop and human flesh into chip grease, except the chip grease makes it almost smell kind of like something you’d buy and eat if you were drunk out on the town in the early hours of the morning… Anyone feel like a kebab later?

Garvaos: You idiot! You’re just going to attract hordes of zombies after us!

Ed: Uh-uh-uh! They’re not zombies! They’re infected humans! If you start lumping the infected humans with the zombies, that just makes you look like a racist.

Garvaos: Against zombies?

Ed: They have feelings too! Granted, those feelings are mostly hunger and lust for human flesh…

Garvaos: Ed, you’ve probably attracted loads of… “infected humans”… I can’t really do the quote marks while I’m still in this chair you tied me to… Anyway, Ed, you’ve probably attracted loads of them here. I can hear them outside right now!

Ed: Those were infected? I thought they were screaming, adoring fans! I signed like, 20 autographs!

Leon: How do you sign autographs while being attacked?

Ed: It’s a skill you pick up quickly if you want to survive in this business.

Leon: This business?! You tied us up to these chairs while we were sleeping, threw Bill on the couch and started throwing questions at him like a monkey throwing poop! The only reason no one else is saying anything is because you gagged them! Also because you threw monkey poop at them and quite frankly we’re all scared you’re going to start doing that again.

Ed: Wait, if they were infected, that means that… Oh man, I hope she was just ugly…

Garvaos: They’re probably going to get in soon! You’re going to have to let us out of these chairs and help us beat them off!

Ed: …They can beat themselves-

Leon: Goddammit Ed I will kill you if you don’t let us out of these chairs right now!

Ed: Okay, jeez, fine. Man you guys are whiny when someone’s tied you up and thrown animal faeces on you…

Garvaos: Where did you even get that much faeces?

Ed: Where else were all the Timesplitters monkeys going to go when Free Radical went under?

Leon: You gave them back when they became Crytek UK, right?

Ed: As far as they know…

Garvaos: Now’s not the time! Leon, untie everyone else!

Ed: Actually, can we wait until after we’ve repelled the infected? I get the feeling they’re all going to betray me or something.

Leon: Really? Really?

Garvaos: Guys! Shut up! Untie them anyway, and we’ll sort this out after the epic battle!

Ed: Can anyone think of a really awesome line or something that people will quote from now on that we can use before we go out there?

Everyone: Nope.

Leon: Anyone got the time?

Ed: I’d say it was A Quarter Past Dead… No? Nothing? The response to that one was Dead Silent.

…Still nothing? I’ve guess it’s better to face this problem… Dead On!

Garvaos: You’re still fired. In fact, if we get out of this alive, we’re not only putting you back in that rehab centre that we’re not entirely sure how you escaped from, but I’m going change the locks and fire you again.

Ed: Oh. Well, shit.

What happens to the PlusXP crew? Will they survive their terrible ordeal? How will they defeat the hordes of Infected? And what happened to Bill? Only one way to find out the answer to all of these questions! Get “The Passing” downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2! Free for PC and 560 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360! Note: None of these questions will actually be answered upon purchase of content.

Garvaos: Triple fired.

Ed: Oh, goddammit!

Imagine you are stuck in a city which is very reminiscent of Las Vegas, Navada. A Zombie infection has broken out, and you are alone surviving the zombie infested casinos. But your not just trapped with Zombies here you are also trapped with a nice collection of deranged psychopaths to boot.

I am of corse talking about Dead Rising 2. The next big Zombie title to hit Quarter 1 2010. You play a guy called Chuck Greene, he is a former motocross champion and has decided to take some time out in a fictional representation of Las Vegas, called Fortune City. Untill the Zombie plague reaches the city and it’s up to him to survive the undead.

So as you can see straight off the baton here you are not secluded to one building. The first Dead Rising saw players battling zombie hordes in a massive Mall. Dead Rising 2 seems to be spread across a whole city, with plenty of weapons at your disposal.

Right, so if it’s spread across a whole city, then why doesn’t Chuck decide to high tale it out of there? Well this sequel is set to have a deeper story line than just mowing down zombies. Chuck’s daughter has gone missing and one of his key objectives in this game is to find her before it’s too late. So it’s got some more depth than just a guy with a camera, killing zombies and looking at his watch. Which is pretty good really, seeing as I like to have some sort of objective when it comes to killing Zombies.

Mind you though, game play wise you will still have the classic time management system you did in the original. So you will still be looking at your watch (but please for the love of god lets hope Capcom have taken Standard definition just a little bit into consideration). There will also be a variety of new weapons and objects at your disposal to fight off the undead hordes. Such as Wheel Chair, A Craps stick (you know the dice game in casinos, and the stick the guy uses to collect the dice back up, yeah that thing) and a shotgun with a pitch folk strapped to it. Believe me though, you are gonna need all these new weapons, wanna know why? Well in the original Dead Rising you had about a maximum of 800 zombies on the screen at one time, so back then it was a sizeable zombie mosh pit. In Dead Rising 2 you can have a maximum of 6,000 on-screen at one time. That is the equivalent of a Circle Pit at a Devil Driver Concert and believe me, thats blinking massive.

Now we all love zombie slaying as much as the next gamer, but we also love Zombie slaying with a friend, and Dead Rising 2 offers this. May I introduce the multiplayer element of this game, this game mode sounds pretty damn interesting and is kind of reminiscent of the old Smash TV game back on the Sega mega drive. The idea is that players will be put into a Reality TV show called ‘Terror Is Reality’ then each player is pitted against each other for some zomb ie slaying action, they are placed in a room and have to kill as most zombies as possible to rack up points. Players can use any weapons that are given to them from your bog standard melee weapons, to chainsaw equipped motor cycles. You will also have the option to prevent other gamers from scoring using ‘dirty tactics’, though it hasn’t been confirmed what those tactics are yet.

Dead Rising 2 sounds like a vast improvement from the original. It takes the best bits from the first game and adds to them, while also shoving a lot of new content in. I will be keeping a keen eye on this game, as I really didn’t get on well with the first one, but I really wanted too…. Maybe it was because of my Standard Definition TV, but who knows.

Garv
